Learner Drivers

    If you are a first time driver who has never been in the driving seat before then you have come to the right place or if you are starting lessons again from a break it doesn't matter at all. If you have already passed your driving test please click a link at the side that you are interested in ( i.e. pass plus or something more advanced). 

So what is involved in getting your driving license. First you need to apply for your provisional driving license, by sending off a D1 form.

You can get your (D1) Application form from you local DVLA Ordering Services, your local Post Office® or by going to Order Online. You will need a passport photo and an official form of ID (i.e. passport) and the fee of approx £45 and then send it all to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AD.

So what do you learn:-

First lesson you learn the functions of the car (what all the buttons and pedals and so on), your next step will be driving off and getting familiar with the car.

As soon as we both feel you are up to it, we will go out on the main roads. But there's no rush if you don't feel confident, you learn more in a relaxed environment. Once you have got to grips with car starting and stopping the vehicle, we will move on to corners and roundabouts.

After a few lessons you will be attempting  manoeuvres such as parking and parallel parking, leading to a turn in the road, emergency stops etc. 

We can also help and advice you with you theory test.

Once we feel your ready for your driving test we will let you know and arrange with you to book your driving test which will be marked on the following.

In your practical driving test you can make up to 15 minor errors but only 3 of the same type (i.e. If the examiner sees you looking at the gear stick 3 times its classes as a fail). If you do one major fault, then you fail (i.e. a major fault would be hitting the curb etc).
