Instructor Training
Here at Accelerate we are proud to say that our staff are trained to a very high level of expertise's, the qualifications that have been achieved by our staff is Cardington A and Diamond Special.
We will teach you how to teach trainees. So what does it involve. We will teach you how to teach your pupils to be safer drivers with defensive driving and how to put your point across with out any misunderstandings. With a distressed pupil we get you to encourage the pupil and keep good communication with your pupil to keep the driver at ease.
There are a few things you need before you become a Driving Instructor.
You need to be over the age of 21.
Hold a full British license for at least 3.5 - 4 years.
A foreign full license will count towards the 3.5 - 4 years period but it must be a foreign license that is accepted under the "exchange" scheme. For more details of the exchange scheme you should read section 4 of the DVLA pamphlet D100 "What you need to know about driving licenses" which is available at most Post Offices.
Not have been disqualified from driving in the last 4 years prior to being entered on to the register.
If you have points on your license the DSA will consider your application.
Be a fit and proper person to have your name entered in the register. All convictions, including motoring offences, still in force (ie not "spent" under the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974) will be taken into account when we assess your suitability to be entered in register.
Course details
Instructor Training part one
Topics covered will include the highway code, hazard perception, driving technique, teaching technique and the uk driving test.
Up to 10 hours of training included in our price.
Accelerate will also provide you with all the relevant training materials (ie books, cds, etc).
We will also give set written tests so we can monitor your progress and give any help that is required.
On completion of your training your will sit the DSA part 1 examination that comprises of 100 multiple questions and your hazard perception test. Your theory can be taken as many time as you like until you pass, included in the price is the cost of you first theory test.
Instructor Training part two
Part two of your instructor driving test is a test of your ability and requires you to take a 6 fault driving test. This means if you get 7 or more minor faults you will not succeed on that occasion the test consists of all the maneuvers including the right hand reverse and motorway driving.
To prepare you for your part 2 test Accelerate will provide you with surfactant training. Accelerate also includes up to 10 hours training included in the price covering every aspect of driving that you require, on a one to one basis of in car tuition and provided locally to you.
On completing your training you will sit the DSA part 2 test which will be conducted in a DSA test centre.
Unlike the theory test you can only take this test 3 times, if you fail to pass on your last attempt you have to wait two years from the day you started training before you can reapply.
Included in the price is the cost of your first instructor driving test.
Instructor Training part 3
Part three is designed to test your ability to instruct. Training for the instructional test consists of your tutor performing role play, acting as a learner driver at different stages of driving. They will create faults that you will have to rectify. You will be given training materials of which you will be shown how to use.
You will also be taught the correct way to rectify the driving faults correctly. You will be encouraged to create a friendly atmosphere where patience is actively encouraged.
We will provide up to 40 hours of training included in our price.
When you have completed your 40 hours you can apply for a trainee license, this will allow you to work as a driving instructor and earn an income. This also gives you hands on experience with real learners. You will be monitored while using this license and given advice and extra training where needed.
As with part two, you can only take the Instructional test three times. If you fail on your third attempt you will have to wait two years from the starting date of training (ie starting from part 1 the theory and hazard perception).
On completion of this training you have the option of taking the DSA part 3 test or obtaining further experience as a trainee instructor under Accelerates supervision.
Upon completion of the full course, Accelerate Driving Solutions Ltd will guarantee you part time or full time employment.
